The Celtic Challenge grew from a charity row by Aberystwyth Lifeboat Crew in 1988. The first proper race took place in 1993 when eight Welsh, and Irish both took part, the fastest doing it in under 18 hours, and raising money for charity has been the focus of cruise since. Our chosen charity partners are two very worthy causes we strongly support.

We specifically wanted to support MSF and their work, where Bridget's Son Fintan Guy-Meagher, is volunteering at present.
Fintan works in operations and logistics, who are the backbone of MSF’s programmes, keeping the programmes functioning properly. It's a challenging and rewarding role it includes: • Maintenance and renovation of structures, including hospitals, clinics, offices and team accommodation • Setting up feeding centres, hospitals, mobile clinics • Organising the transport of medications and supplies. |
The Jack & Jill
Children’s Foundation
The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation provides direct funding, to families of children up to the age of five who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay, enabling them to purchase home respite care. We also provide end of life care to all children up to the age of five.
These are children who as a result of their condition require intensive home nursing care. The Foundation gives these families THE GIFT OF TIME, time to do the things that we so often take for granted like shopping, taking their other children to the park, a night’s sleep etc.

We will be raising funds for Jack and Jill in memory of the handsome Luke Collins, who had a wonderful ability to bring out the best in everyone and we hope he will bring out the best in all us women to get us to Aberystwyth safely. I
